Digital Product Design NYC Meetup – ADP Lifion NYC – May 17 2016 –
Designing Human Behavior: The Basics of Habit-Forming Product Design
Behavior change products are simultaneously compelling and incredibly difficult to build. For example, how does a product teach users a new language, or even healthy habits that will make them lose weight? Based on the works of prominent behavioral economists, we’ll cover the thought process that leads a user to take action and how to foster it. We’ll also learn strategies that you can apply to the product design process to help your users change their lives.
Logan Merriam is a product designer at Noom Inc, where he builds products that help patients of chronic disease reverse their conditions through behavior change. Prior to that he was lead designer at Kinsa Inc, tracking the spread of disease using a smartphone-based thermometer. Logan also created and currently runs flaredown.com, a community of people with incurable chronic illness learning to analyze their treatments and fix their symptoms.
